Applications for the 2015/2016 school year will be available May 1, 2015 at Riverside.

The preschool years are an important time to develop an excitement for learning and a positive feeling of self-confidence.  A good preschool program provides a rich environment, a variety of well-chosen play activities and warm, caring staff of certified teachers.  Preschool children learn with their hands, their senses, and through active participation.  Activities provided in a developmental preschool program present children with new ideas, and allow them to try out concepts that prepare them for the academics that they will encounter later on.

The following preschool programs are offered by Monroe Public Schools to all families.  Parents must pay monthly tuition and provide transportation to and from the program.  To Register or receive more information, contact the Child Care and Preschool Office at 265-4900.   Registration Fee is $45.00.

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS:

Three year olds are beginning to understand how to be a part of a group and to begin to cooperate, share and listen to direction.  They are learning how things work and enjoy games, puzzles, and stories.  The goals of building self-confidence, developing language and social skills are met through exposure to a variety of materials and activities, small group projects and caring adult guidance.  Rainbow 3’s is an enjoyable and fun experience for your child.  Your child must be three years of age by October 1st.  (Children can be placed in the classroom until the end of January – based on availability of space.)

This program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 hours per day, at Riverside Early Learning Center.  Monthly tuition is $90.00.

FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS

Children in this age group are fine-tuning many skills and eager to learn.  They need practice using small muscles with such activities as cutting and drawing, and large movement activities that build coordination.  Listening, thinking and reasoning are encouraged during structured activities where children also learn to cooperate in a group and follow directions through positive, self-esteem building techniques.  Each child’s individuality and rate of development is respected and carefully considered in this program.  Children are exposed to shapes, colors, letters and numbers as a part of the program, but memorization of designed these concepts is not a goal of the program.  Experiences to lengthen attention span and give children a feeling of success are emphasized.  Your child must be four years of age of October 1st.  (Children can be placed in the classroom until the end of March – based on availability of space.)

This program meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 2 ½ hours per day, at Riverside Early Learning Center.  Monthly tuition is $130.00.

Child Care is available through the Kids Club Program at Riverside Early Learning Center.
