M-STEP  (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress)

Students in Grades 3 - 6 will be taking the M-Step later this spring. The M-Step will be taken on an electronic device (for most students it will be a laptop).

A practice test designed by the Michigan Department of Education is available to use to get familiar with the test and the navigation tools that can be used with the test.

To use the Practice test follow the directions below.

  1. You must use the Chrome browser.

  2. Click on the URL to hyperlink to the practice test. https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1  (If the hyperlink doesn't work, copy and paste the URL into the address bar).

  3. Follow the directions on the screen to enter the Username and Password.

  4. Click on the Help tool. (It looks like a "?" at the top right-hand side of the screen).

  5. Click on the Tools tab to learn about the function of each Navigation Tool.

  6. Try out some test questions. (Think about the navigation tools and decide if it would be helpful to use a particular tool for the question).
