Welcome to Monroe Middle School

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The staff of Monroe Middle School is committed to educating students to become students to become responsible, self-disciplined, productive citizens.   “The Monroe Way", the Monroe Middle School Character Education Program is designed to help to accomplish this goal.  Through active participation in "The Monroe Way" students are taught “people skills,” problem-solving, listening, team work, and the skills of leadership and citizenship.

“The Monroe Way" concentrates on teaching and modeling ten character virtues through-out the year with one virtue emphasized each month.

Through the teaching and modeling of these character traits, students are directed toward becoming productive, contributing citizens of the community.  The intent of the program is to create a school environment that is pleasant, safe, and student-centered.  By replacing negative social behaviors at school with the modeling of positive interaction among students and staff, students are able to demonstrate successful academic achievement on a consistent basis.

Students are encouraged to model and reinforce appropriate social behavior throughout their day at MMS.  This includes the time spent in class, the hallway, cafeteria, locker room, etc., as well as before and after school when they are at home, in the community, and "on their own."
