What is an EMC?
Early Middle College program is an extension of high school. Students earn a high school diploma along with a two-year associate's degree or an industry-recognized certification. They will attend Monroe County Community College during the fifth year of high school. This is a FREE college opportunity for all Monroe High School students that are freshmen.

How does EMC work at MHS?
- MPS has partnered with Monroe County
- Community College to provide onsite classes at Monroe High School and college classes on MCCC campus
- Coordination between college advisor and Monroe High School to meet Michigan Merit
- Curriculum requirements while pursuing an Associate Degree
- High school graduation requirements will not change other than commitment to 5th year of study
Course Enrollment
- Students will begin the program taking college courses with cohort group in 10th grade
- Students will progressively take more college courses during 11th and 12th grades
- 5th year of school will be spent at MCCC
