Career and Technical Education

CTEOur Career and Technical opportunities, PreK – 16, are giving our students experiences and skills that either prepare them for college or a career straight out of high school by tailoring our curriculum to the attributes that area industry leaders are looking for in a prospective employee.


Advanced Placement and College Course  Opportunities
Our students at Monroe High School have a plethora of opportunities to engage in college-level and advanced placement content while still in high school. Monroe High School offers 13 Advanced Placement opportunities, while offering both Direct College and Dual Enrollment opportunities for students in our extremely valuable partnership with MCCC.

Commitment to Professional Development
Monroe Public Schools is committed to giving our teachers and staff a rigorous and plentiful slate of professional development experiences throughout the school year and the summer. Our dedicated staff continuously hones and perfects their craft through these opportunities so their work in the classroom provides your child the best education.

Technology Opportunities
Our students have 1:1 access to technology at every level! Young fivers – third graders have dedicated iPads, while fourth and beyond use Chromebooks. Fifth graders through seniors take their Chromebook home and keep them during the summer! 

Entrepreneurial Curriculum
Our innovative K-12 entrepreneurship curriculum continues to grow with the incredible support from our business and government partners throughout our Monroe community. Students learn the values of creativity, determination, and the business skills that are at the heart of an entrepreneurial mindset that will prepare them for the rigors or college or a career right after high school!

Social-Emotional Support
We recognize that students’ social-emotional learning goes hand-in-hand with academic content. Every school has a dedicated Social-Emotional Team, committed to supporting students’ social-emotional needs and working through situations through a lens of Restorative Justice, helping students return to the classroom ready to learn.

Elementary Initiatives
Our elementary schools offer exciting and innovative programming to their students, from International Baccalaureate at Raisinville, Leader in Me at Manor, and inquiry-based interest academies at Arborwood, to STEAM at Custer and Waterloo. Even though each school may come at the mission from a unique perspective, our entire Monroe Public Schools community is committed to providing our students a state-of-the-art, 21st century learning experience that prepares them for whatever future they aspire to achieve.

Support for Families
Our schools act as cultural hubs for the communities that they serve and support families in ways beyond the classroom. Students Y5-12 grade receive breakfast and lunch at no cost! Our partnerships with area agencies such as ProMedica, DHHS, and the Monroe County Health Department bring our families closer to the services they need!

Authentic Learning Experiences
Monroe Public Schools students benefit from our staff’s enthusiasm for authentic learning experiences. From CTE experiences such as the Monroe Home Build on the South Monroe Townsite Property, to the multi-school Monroe Youth Advisory Council meetings with city government leaders, our students gain real-world experience that ties learning in the classroom to learning in life.

Fine Arts
Students in Monroe Public Schools have won awards year after year for excellence in band, orchestra, and vocal arts! From elementary to secondary, our students benefit from a first-class fine and performing arts curriculum and staff to support the development of skills and talent!

Athletics
Monroe Public Schools’ robust athletic offerings give students a wide-range of options at a range of age-levels, from Community Education offerings for elementary students to learn the basic to competitive middle school and high school SEC sports where students hone their skills.
