Welcome back to school for the 2012 -2013 year!
Music is basic to humans and so it is basic to education! Studying music not only allows students to develop their whole person, but also aids learning in all other curricular areas.
Our Monroe Public Schools Curriculum has been carefully designed to provide students at every grade level opportunities to read, write and perform music, as well as create, listen and move.
This year we will be using Common Assessments in Music. These assessments were developed in collaboration with all of the Monroe Public Schools Elementary music teaching staff. Both pre-tests and post-tests will be given to all students. The assessments will reflect the quality teaching and learning that occurs in our music classes every day. We look forward to showing our students how fun and challenging music can be with the addition of the assessments.
