Welcome to the MHS XC & Trojan Track and Field Blog.
The Trojan Track & Field and Cross Country program boasts a history of excellence and success matched by few teams in the state. One need only look around the Larry Beason Memorial Gym to view our championship legacy. League, Regional and State Championships of the past set the bar high year after year. We’ve gotten used to success, but understand that it only comes through hard work. We seek self-motivated student-athletes; those with the will to be the best that they can be in the classroom, on the track and in the field.
Track and Field and Cross Country are amazing sports. Combined with its dual offering of individual and team competition, no other sport can provide so much for so many. There are opportunities to develop physically, emotionally, and socially. There are opportunities to discover hidden talents, learn about oneself, and develop a new sense of competence and self-worth. There are opportunities to be part of a team while competing as an individual. There are lessons about life and reality. There is the motivation to pursue goals and objectives that most teenagers dismiss as being impossible. All these possibilities are woven into the unique fabric of sport. John C. Argue, Chairman of the American Athletic Foundation
Our program asks a question of you, and everyday it’s the same question: “Are you going to be weak, or are you going to be strong?” And when you answer this question the way our champions of the past, present and future answer it, you become better, stronger and more confident, with a capacity for achievement greater than before, and a formula for success that is forever engraved on your brain.
