Confidential Help is Just a Phone Call Away!

MPS Employee Assistance Program

Weekdays – 9:00 – 5:00:    240-1760

Weekends/Evenings:   240-5350

As an employee of Monroe Public Schools you and your dependents now have access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).    Services will deal with a broad range of problems that may be disrupting normal everyday life.  These may include:

Family Concerns

Marital Problems

Stress from Financial Problems

Career Issues

Stress From Legal Problems

Substance Abuse Problems

While most employees and their dependents can handle their own problems, from time-to-time there are problems that confront us for which we need a little help.   The Employee Assistance Program offers professional help in a confidential surrounding.  This program was developed through a joint effort of representatives of ALL employee groups, including union and administration.

Use of the EAP is voluntary and job security or reputation of the individual will not be jeopardized.   CONFIDENTIALITY is the cornerstone of the program.   All referrals will be completely CONFIDENTIAL and release of information will only be made with the user’s written permission.

The Monroe Public School’s EAP provides for a 24 hour contact number, an assessment within 24 hours, up to two (2) follow-up sessions and if necessary, referral to a specialist.

PURPOSE:   To provide voluntary and confidential assistance and referral for Monroe Public Schools employees and dependents with personal problems and to help employees deal more effectively with personal and job performance problems.

ASSESSMENT:  It will be the goal of the EAP to schedule an initial appointment to help evaluate the problem within 24 hours with professionals at the Mercy/Memorial Family Center.

COUNSELING:  Up to two additional appointments will be scheduled to assist with temporary life problems that may benefit from short-term counseling.

REFERRAL:  For some serious and/or long-term problems, the EAP counselor may recommend referral to a specialist.    Participant input will be sought and an attempt will be made to ensure acceptability by the insurance provider or to identify sliding scale fees where insurance is not available.

CRISIS INTERVENTION:   Crisis calls will be handled immediately through the Family Center, Pineview Center or, if necessary the Mercy/Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for prompt intervention and action.

COST:   EAP Services for the initial assessment and up to two (2) follow-up sessions will be at no cost to Monroe Public School employees and dependents.

How to Utilize the EAP

FOR HELP with any problems or  concerns, just call 240-1760 Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00  PM.   You will be in direct contact with Mercy/Memorial Family Center.  Tell the contact person that you are in the Monroe Public Schools EAP and wish to talk to someone about a problem.

ON WEEKENDS and during evening hours participants are asked to contact 240-5350.  Arrangements have been made with Pineview Center to help our employees initiate the EAP services in the off hours.  Again, inform the personnel that you are a member of the Monroe Public Schools EAP.

ALL CALLERS to the Monroe Public School EAP will receive an initial appointment for assessment within a 24 hour time period.  An interview will be conducted to determine the type of problem and the most suitable follow-up and help.   UP TO two (2) additional times sessions may be scheduled.   The assessment and up to two (2) sessions are provided free of charge through the Monroe Public School’s EAP.

FOR PROBLEMS of a more serious nature, the EAP will provide a referral to a specialist and help cut through the red tape to get timely appointments.   All referrals would be made to professionals recognized by all major insurance providers, if at all possible.

ALL INFORMATION will remain CONFIDENTIAL.  The only time CONFIDENTIALITY is breached is when there is evidence that the user may be a threat to themselves, to others in the household or workplace.
