State & Federal Programs
Title I Title I Programs are federally funded programs that assist students who are not making adequate progress in the regular classroom. Schools which qualify for Title I services during the 2012-13 school year are Custer, Arborwood, and Manor elementary schools, and Monroe Middle School. Title I programs are designed to help students achieve success in reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students are identified for Title I services using a district-wide needs-assessment process. The needs assessment collects data on student progress in these four core subject areas. Students who do not meet the district criteria for progress in each of these areas are identified for Title I services. Teachers in Title I schools are able to provide extra support to identified Title I students by using supplemental materials, intervention programs, extended day and summer school opportunities. There is also Title I funded intensive professional development designed to help teachers target individual student academic needs. The success of these various services is measured by student performance on the MEAP test as well as other district level measures.
