Orchard Center High School
5003 West Albain Road
Monroe, MI 48161
Thanks to millage funds, Orchard Center High School had an entire computer refresh three years ago. Two summers ago, all computers were replaced with newer models from the schools that were closed. All classrooms now have at least one teacher computer, a mounted projector and an AVerMedia document camera. The school has a cart of 32 ACER laptops; which is shared by teachers. There is also a Gateway Plasma Display which displays a PowerPoint presentation of what is happening at OCHS. This is one of the first things visitors see when they enter the building.
There are two main computer labs at this school; each contains 21 computers. The teacher's computer in each lab has a program called "Crosstec" installed, which allows them to monitor, control, share files, and instruct students on their computers. There is also a program in Lab 70 which provides students an opportunity to earn their GED.
Every classroom has a computer, which provides teachers with access to the internet, email, and PowerSchool.
Orchard has an individual student account log on system. This provides security and accountability for all students. The system also makes measuring student progress easier for staff members.
Orchard is connected by fiber to the Administration Building. Wireless access to the network is available throughout the entire building.
