Technology Millage
The public school students throughout Monroe County are fortunate that their districts are reaping the benefits of a county wide enhancement millage, which is targeted specifically for technology. This Technology Enhancement Millage is unique only to Monroe County because we are the only county in the State of Michigan whose voters sustain such an endeavor. In 1997, the residents in Monroe County overwhelmingly supported the notion that their children should have access to the latest technological innovations and passed a levy which generates almost 5 million dollars annually. The total revenue generated is divided among all 9 districts using a per student allocation formula. That equates to approximately 1.5 million dollars to support technology for Monroe Public Schools’ students in 2010-2011. This site has been developed to show the community how Monroe Public Schools is using the technology funding to improve the quality of our educational offerings, increase student achievement, and streamline operations. By clicking on the “Benefits” link to the left you will see what services are offered to our students and faculty. In the “Buildings” section you will be able to see more specifically how technology is being used in each school within the district. Click on the videos below to see what some of our users have to say about technology at MPS. These were all taken with our ACER laptops.
